Unable to log in to FTP
#1
[Solved]
I guess I must have missed the e-mail about the gi9 domain being changed. Anyway, I've managed to log in to cPanel using the gigapages.net domain; however, I'm unable to log in using FTP.

I get the following errors from FileZilla:

Status:    Resolving address of http://ftp.belltown.gigapages.net
Status:    Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NONAME - Neither nodename nor servname provided, or not known".

Probably not necessary to ask but have you deleted all of the cookies and history of your browser? Or tried a different browser?

Server: http://ftp.belltown.gigapages.net
Protocol: ftp - File Transfer Protocol
Encryption: Have you tried "using only plain FTP"?

I tried all the above with no success.

However, I was finally able to get it to work by changing the server name from ftp.belltown.gigapages.net to belltown.gigapages.net

It looks like the FTP server name format was also changed when the domain names were changed.

You're right @belltown. I was almost certain there was something like this that DJB had mentioned to someone else with a similar inquiry. Before I responded to yours I searched and couldn't find it - like I could not remember the specifics. So now I remember @DJB had advised in that response that the ftp need to be omitted.

Don't think I'll forget it this time round. Thanks for figuring it out. Tongue
