WHMCS Plans - Starter, Plus, Professional & Business

#1
I just noticed that WHMCS are becoming profiteering cowboys. They have introduced a new set of packages called Starter, Plus, Professional & Business. It wasn't all that long ago they hiked prices for the subscription from around $15 per month to almost $20 per month.

That $20 per package is now $40 per month with their new tiered packages. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried dropping the owned licences soon. Greedy fuckers.

This is so true @DJB. But not limited to WHMCS. All of the software is getting expensive not marginally but in huge leaps. And I guess the longer we support guys like that, like on the extreme end Microsoft, Adobe, etc. the more they are going to charge and get away with it too.

You're not the only host who feels strongly over this. There are discussion groups like Webhostingtalk, Quora, LowendTalk all of whom are having discussions about free or paid alternatives. Unfortunately though out of those discussions WHMCS is still coming out tops. Like the devil no one wants to pay for, but if you're serious about your business it's still the best one for professionals to have.

Here are some links to free and paid alternatives to WHMCS. Irony is I'm sure if people would take a risk and support some of them, then there is a better chance that they will become bigger competition for WHMCS and do something to bring the license fees down.

Most definitely, I bet that there is some big alternative to WHMCS out there that is cheaper or even free.

I have a couple of owned licenses which I now fear WHMCS will do everything in their power to make more money out of. Certainly another case of another company gotten too big for their boots. Not sure if you know, they were bought out by cPanel a couple of years ago. We all knoe how greedy cPanel are...
