What is your favourite Word Press Theme?

#1
I've been checking through all of the existing themes on offer in the Word Press Admin (all 600 plus that are there), as well as Googled themes, and haven't found quite what I like yet. I don't want fancy with bells and whistles. What I like is simple, elegant, classy with style. Plenty of white space. Nice font, nice layout.

Any way, regardless of what I'm looking for, I thought it could be neat to see what your favourite Word Press themes are.
#2
Not sure if I have a favorite, but I build this one for a client: http://www.ccsribwbrabant.nl/
I am not going to release that theme tho. I could give it to you if you really really like it, but I kind of doubt that, as it was my first theme.

Thanks for sharing Sander. I wasn't going to copy any person's specific Website, just wanted to assemble ideas. I was also looking specifically at a blog theme, not a general Website theme. For the blogging I'm now experimenting with existing themes from Word Press and modifying them for a slightly more individual look. I decided to stick with Word Press (rather than another source) as at least one would assume Word Press has tried and tested the theme from a security point of view.

I like the GamePress theme which is free, but its a bit dark for a blog.
#5
Agreed. I've seen a few dark themes, and although they look attractive at first glance, I prefer the ones with plenty of white space. Here is an example of a dark Word Press theme I bookmarked:
http://wordpress.org/themes/sunspot

This is probably the closest I got to a blog theme I liked for what I'm aiming at although I'd have to modify it quite a bit to get what I really want:
http://wordpress.org/themes/zeestyle

This theme looked quite interesting, although a bit too SQUARE - but a nice formal design:
Modern Multipurpose by thememotive.com

I also liked this design - albeit a bit too simple, but since it has been designed for tablets and phones it could provide one with more hits:

Moving away from blog sites, I found this "funky" word press theme I thought was quite interesting. I doubt I'd use it though. But nice to see what they're coming up with these days:

From that 4 I like zeestyle the most.
#7
I'm working on it at the moment. Got the basics up, but need to improvise a lot still.

Must say Word Press themes are effortless to install. And very fast. Also easy to modify.
#8
Thats true, its very easy.
Also building your own plugins/widgets is pretty ease (as long you don't add the admin part of it).

Just discovered this neat Website for Word Press themes and plug-ins. It's commercial, i.e. one has to pay for them, but still great to just admire them.

http://themetrust.com/

I particularly like this one - it's not a blog theme, but pretty striking - love the font and the layout of the Website:

I use these themes by WPExplorer. They all are free. They all have beautiful fonts, clean spaces, minimalistic style and great customization. http://www.wpexplorer.com/top-free-themes/ .

i used academica theme..
#14
I like elegant theme's evolution. I think it has a minimalistic style and it looks really neat and simple, making it easy for visitors to navigate and read.

Learn simple html and simple css and you can modify the default themes as you like. You don't need to buy themes. But of course if you want themes that you really like buying themes can also be useful.

Try Woothemes.
They have great support and designs.
Although most of their themes are paid.

This is the site I was going to post. You stole it from me!

They used to have a number of free themes, but I just got an email from them saying, "Oh, we made a mistake on our pricing. It's not sustainable and we can't afford to keep these pricing schedules, so we're changing them." So who knows if they will still be offering anything free at all..

I don't know if this one is good but it seems so:

They are great whsecurity. I particularly like the igloo one. Anything that has extra white space in it. I'm not as partial for dark, but then the three themes cater for all tastes I think.

Ahaha.

I didn't mean to do that.
Well, may be they can't afford any free themes due to technical support and hosting fees?
But we can create a custom theme for anyone here.

Anyone want to start a theme creation business?

WOOthemes, although it increases resource, but the feature available is great. But if you want more seo friendly, you better use DIY.

I don't know them, do you have a link I can follow?

A friend of mine is using the kieran theme. It's simple and uncluttered. Pretty cool

I love this theme for plain blogging: http://wordpress.org/themes/decode

Then I made it into a dark theme via its customisation feature using the colour palette from http://www.colourlovers.com/

When I have more content on my website I might switch to a magazine-ish theme, but right now as a rambling blog, Decode theme is perfect.

Have you googled for Bootstrap templates or themes? There are a ton of really nice designs out there which are easy to customize, and they're already scripted to be responsive.
