Best FREE softwares for Windows

#1
When you install fresh Windows OS from the scratch, there is a lot of other softwares that you need and that you can't find in Windows installation. This is my recommendation and sort of reminder what to install on fresh Windows, but NOT to spend a single penny!

The list includes only programs with which I worked for a long time and who have proved to be excellent, both for me and for the my clients who installed them. So this is in fact the best FREE Windows programs for me and that I recommend to everyone. This is not a formal list but the list based solely on my experience.

Recuva is not a data recovery software. Its junk. It does nothing and a waste of install.

As for video player, VLC is way better and is open source and works on Linux, Mac and Android devices too.

The rest I guess are ok. Never used them. I use paid programs that I get for free

I use Openoffice for a replacement to M$ office

Thanks for the list. I will refer to this post when I need a free program for any given task. The screen capture program that you listed, Screen Captor, only allows 10 minutes of video capture unless you pay $29.99 for the pro version.

Are there any actually free video capture programs?

I am currently using Debut, by NCH. I had to pay for the license, though.

Great list @misharnet! I use many of those too. I'd also add f.lux, Sublime Text & Komodo Edit, as well as Pale Moon for those who liked older, pre-Australis versions of Firefox better.

Good list, I also use Firefox and Thunderbird, Putty, Notepad++, CCleaner.

If I was to add to the list for [Remote Desktop] it would be Teamviewer, it's very easy to setup and control various OS's, plus it's free.
Please do NOT contact me via PM for support request`s, use the support forum instead, you will get a faster response.

foxit is really cool for PDF and have free version

Gyazo is another screen capturing tool which i use, its useful if you need to quickly screen shot something and share it as it automatically uploads the image and opens the link to that image in a new tab. It also allows you to view all your previous sceenshots that you have taken with Gyazo within the past 2 months.

A useful VOIP is Teamspeak as it has much better sound quality than skype and you can have 1 server that everyone joins, but have multiple rooms within that server and allows users to easily change between them to talk to different people without having 20+ people all in the same skype call.

A software crack is not the same as FREE software, so I think you're not at the right place here. This topic is for sharing software that is actually free to use, and not for software that is obtained illegally.

Thanks for picking that up @Stijn. You're obviously correct and he is no longer with us.

I really like handbrake, its used for transcoding videos.

Back in the days when i didn't have a laptop, but only an ipad, i used it a lot. I had a lot of movies and series on my computer, but the ipad 1 could not play 1080p, so everything had to be converted to a smaller resolution and .mp4 format. It took a while to convert things(and it works like a handbrake on your pc's performance aswell...), but it really worked well. I usually let it put the subtitles into the video aswell, because the ipad didn't like subtitles in external files.

Wow, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Sysinternals Suite yet -- it's one of the best tool-suites for administrators. I highly recommend it; you can get it at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/bb842062.

For screencapture, there's Puush.
For media info(when encoding vids), MediaInfo does the job.
Then for making zips and such, 7-Zip has no other in terms of compatability with file types.
#25
Some application I install are:

Media player & Management = Kodi.
Windows 10 Tracking Blocker = Spybot Anti-Beacon
FIrewall software = Glasswire
#26
I have seen many good software in this thread.

What i did not see was:

revo uninstaller, i like this a lot!

eusing registry defrag...btw eusing.com has many interesting software and if i'm not mistaken most, if not all is free.

comodo internet security(firewall + av + hips)

iobit smartdefrag

spybot anti-beacon - especially for W10 with its privacy issues.

Unlocker - can be handy when windows thinks it's the boss :)
#27
Don't forget VLC as media player
#28
IDM. It can download literally anything. Biggrin

Also, Rocketdock is really nice to have on the desktop.
#29
Another antivirus is ESET. It's not free but you can get free month codes online  with no effort.
#30
For AntiVirus I always use Eset Security (Windows 7), in WIndows 10 I use the built in one.
For media Player I use KMPlayer very light weight and have complete codecs
ShareIt for file transfering using wireless network
