HDD / SSD Cloning Software

#1
I'm planning to migrate to SSD from HDD on my laptop. Rather than a clean install and reinstall all software, apps etc. I'm hoping to clone my HDD to an external HDD prior to a migration to a SSD.

I'm not looking at freeware for this, I have important files and little time to fresh install and reinstall all data.

Could anyone recommend any software or techniques?

Update, I have done a little research and found this software: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx for cloning HDD/SSD. I have also purchased this cable connector: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sabrent-2-5-Inc...op?ie=UTF8

For your original post, how dare you say you're not looking at freeware!? Reflect(free version) clearly works.
Source: I've used it to clone my HDD to my current boot drive, a SSD.

As for your second post, you don't really need that connector if your laptop can support two SATA drives. Else, that connector will help.

I used to work for a company here in Geneva, and we used only mac, but Carbon Copy Cloner rocks you can use the trial and you can copy as much as you want, i can tell that for mac is the best and fastest i have found for cloning SSDs using thunderbolt of course

i use http://clonezilla.org/
It's live image, and you can do it any where, to other HDD or to a network..

I have cleaned up my hard disk after I finish my work.
In many cases, image CD of hard disk is prepared.
If you copy frequently, it is easy to make DVDs and CDs.

Hello, i used http://www.xxclone.com/ on a laptop using the tfree 30 days version to clone the HDD to an SSD.
I had the 2 drives on external USB so it was a bit longer (i did it during the night)
Worked without issue !

It was running windows 7

Try Clonezilla the last version, in the newer version it's a good  tool to do what you need

I have used with succes EaseUS Todo Backup Free software for cloning HDD:s. Also xxcopy is free and working.

I'm using a mac so I'm always using Carbon Copy Cloner. It's a very fast tool to clone pretty much any drive and it is also possible to create ISO files from your hard drive. It isn't free but definitely worth the price. Would definitely give it a try.

Could you tell us more about why you think that Aomei is best? What makes it stand out from other similar software?

I am using MiniTool Partition Wizard https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-par...nager.html
It is free and is doing the job well. there are sometimes issues with MBR, but it is easy to fix with the rebuild command.
There is very nice option to migrate OS to a new disk (SSD) https://www.partitionwizard.com/help/mig...sd-hd.html
