About cpanel and other web panels out there.

Hi!!! I want to know if cpanel is the only best control panel or there are any other panels like vista panel or others that I encounter on many free web hosting sites.

I generally find that cpanel is most stable and I never encounter any problem with it. And there is this vista panel, there services are mediocre than cpanel.

I want to know if cpanel is best for web hosting in cloud?

I find cPanel the best as well and the most accessible. DirectAdmin is a major competitor. I've heard many reports that it is OK to use. But often people have problems with their IPs being blocked by DirectAdmin. Think cPanel is still the better of the two. There is also Plesk .... but I don't know much about it. Would be nice if someone who does could comment how Plesk compares.

Yes, I think the cPanel is the most used web panel. Have some cool features, easy to use, fast and last but not least is stable. I seen some alternatives for web panel, but most of them are unstable, and not user friendly.

Has anybody tried Zpanel? I've not tried it yet, but learned it's open source and best of all ... FREE! I'd like to investigate this web panel and compare how it rates against the might cPanel.

I have used ZPanel already on my VPS and I must have say that it is quite amazing and free. Vista Panel is also cool, but the best one is cPanel.

I agree cPanel is really cool. Zpanel being free is cool too since it's open source. But I suppose once I have passed the quality posts threshold for free hosting, I'll be using cPanel anyway since it's already build in.

cPanel has spoilt me. Particularly ours with Softaculous as I can have a blog up and running virtually in minutes from downloading the script. I tried to do it the old-fashioned way a couple of weeks ago and that took almost ages in comparison. Downloading the software from WordPress Website, then uploading it through FTP, unzipping it, etc. etc. I've used Direct Admin before and although also good, now and then see reports about people who have problems with their IPs blocked very easily.

You're right Pauline. I don't know what I'd do without cPanel as I'm a VERY lazy person. I like to do things fast. I can do everything I need with cPanel. I don't even use FTP.

I only know cPanel. I'd love to get to know how the others work. Have heard of DirectAdmin and that it does pretty much what cPanel does. Also if I get it right, it could be free for Web owners as part of a package deal. Whereas cPanel license does cost a pretty penny.

I'm looking forward to cPanel here and particularly the Softaculous auto installer. Can't wait to see all of the scripts it has on offer. I also like to use its other features as well of course. I like its FTP and how that is automatically created when one is set up. All of the sub domains and add on domains one can create. Also ease of creating databases. I feel cPanel is a win win situation.

cPanels FTP is not suitable for sending multiple files at once, because it cannot do it, so for this you might use Filezilla, although every other things are great, especially Softaculous which is very powerful.

All you need is to zip the files. Then it will be possible to upload multiple files at once.

Filezilla of course has a good role to play when the files are very large as there is a limit in the size that can be uploaded with File Manager.

It has been years since I used plesk, but I found it it be clunky compared to Cpanel. When I take on freelance website clients I always try to get them to use a hosting provider that uses cpanel. It is just so much nicer.

@rockforlife. Any experiences with DirectAdmin? How would you rate it in comparison with cPanel?

No, I've never used it. I've used some pretty bad ones in the past including whatever seanic.net called theirs, yahoo's business sites, SITERIGHTNOW.NET, and more

I use vDeck 4 at one host and it compares fairly well to cPanel though I prefer cPanel.

The interface for setting up and working with email accounts is pretty straightforward and user friendly as is the set up of domain names.

Without knowing which features are standard and which are add on, cPanel appears to have more, and more useful features over all.

I don't know if this standard for vDeck or not but the one I use formerly used SimpleScripts and now uses MojoMarketplace for script installation, both of which are not not nearly as easy, fun or reliable to use as Softaculous.

The bottom line is that vDeck seems like something of a "cPanel lite" and might be a good choice for users who want a cleaner interface and don't need to delve as deeply into cPanel's many features.

I actually don't have an opinion about the differences between simplscripts, mojomarketplace, and softaculous. They all get the job done. And if they aren't installed at all, most scripts aren't too hard to install these days.

Agreed. In some way I think it is better not to use a script installer. Quite often the script is not up to date, and one has to go through the nuisance of upgrading it before one can use it. Much faster to download the most up to date version from the source, and then upload it.

Everyone can use free Apps from Installatron.com. Is isn`t require to be installed on server, that we use. We can fill our FTP and MySQL passwords and other data and script will be installed. It is very comfortable, when we use our server without Softaculous or we hadn`t an access to control panel.
Today, it is very easy to install most of scripts, but it is great, if we have slow Internet connection and we must upload all installation files of the script or we can use script installer.
