Hi, I currently have a domain called nduwib.gi9.co but i want my site domain to be uwib.nd.edu should I add that as an add-on domain or parked domain? I tried both but it doesn't work... how long does it usually take to be in effect? The nameservers have been changed to the new ones btw.

First of all this nduwib.gi9.co is a sub domain not a domain , which means you can not point it to another server .

So to point a domain to a server - where you uploaded your website files - you need to change its name servers from Domain Control Panel

You dont need to add your tdl as a addon domain. We can change your subdomain nduwib.gi9.co to uwib.nd.edu if you confirm. Make sure that you have set your nameservers already.

@Nduwib. It sometimes takes a while for the nameserver changes to be propagated through the Internet. It can be anything from almost immediate with a place like dot.tk to three days, depending on how the Registrar is set up.

How you can check whether the name servers have changed, is to use domaintools.com. Type the new domain name in the "search for domain" box and it will show the complete registration information for the domain. At the time of checking now, your name servers have still not changed to the new name servers.

Yes I confirm. Thank you very much!

@nduwib. Are you sure this domain belongs to you? I.e. you are the owner and you have access to it in an account with a domain registrar? Or did the University of Notre Dame make it available to you? What's strange is that I'm unable to change it in our WHM to uwib.nd.edu. It won't allow me to do it.

Also, from domaintools.com it would appear that the University of Notre Dame is the legitimate owner of the domain
uwib.nd.edu.

Maybe the parked domain is sufficient for now as that seems to be working? Your Website does show up as uwib.nd.edu. So maybe you have permission to use it from the University, but you're not the owner of the domain?
