Looks as though other large corporations are now jumping on the smartphones as well. Amazon is about to launch its own brand of Smartphone:

Looks great. Specs include a 4.7 inch display (maybe a little large) with 720 HD resolution, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM, six individual camera modules and a "highly customized" version of Google's Android operating system similar to the ones on Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets. It will also feature a novel interface with 3D effects enabled by four front-facing infrared cameras, so is really going for high-tech.

Good observation SF. It is indeed too saturated. By the time I'm ready for a smart phone hopefully I will be able to benefit from that price and feature wise.

It will have to take something really humungous and amazing to get me to change from Apple iPhone. Just works to well with my AppleMac. I think once one is an Apple person, and happy with it, it would be very difficult to change.

Since Amazon releases a lot of application for Android for free on some occasions, I am using their Amazon Appstore on my Android smartphone. It is an app created to work in a way similar to Google Play store but unfortunately, I have to admit that a really significant portion of application supplied by Amazon Appstore is out of date and others get the updates later than it is on Google Play.

Thus, I am sceptically looking at the idea of Amazon's smartphone, as it will be probably over-packed with their software which, as I suppose, will tend to be as out of date as the apps sold via Amazon Appstore.

Well, anyways, maybe it will find some users. If not, Amazon will probably give it away to the people employed at Amazon ;)

When I checked it out yesterday that is exactly what I found, probably the reason for bringing out the product in the first place. To flog their core business.
