Your explanation makes great sense @stokerace. So maybe anti-virus on phones is scam ware of a kind? :p

Sorry to tell you all that have installed an Anti-virus on your phones, they don't work. 1, there has not been a virus written since 2000. What people are calling a virus, are not a virus, but scam ware, or trojan like software.2, There is not a AV that will discover RATS and trojans that are written for mobile devices. I have a trojan attached to an AV and not one of these programs can detect it. And I do mean all of them. The trojan is not even written well and its even 3 years old and nothing can detect it. It not encrypted like most rats and trojans are to bypass AV detections.

This is exactly what I thought. You are right, there is nothing to stop the bad stuff on smartphones.

I think so too. Smartphone needs not anti-virus but a kind of personal firewall, which can control and prevent internet access from application one by one.
Does anyone know such application?

I am using CM Browser and I think that there's CM Antivirus or CM Firewall at least. I haven't used it, as I do not want my phone to be lagged. I do however use CM Browser, which I consider to be the best (at least the fastetst) Android browser out there.

You may then try out anything created by CM.

I haven't heard of Panda before, but it looks like it has an Android app, as well as Windows software. Is it any good?

360security runs fine and as with many mobile phone antivirus apps, it has anti theft features which work pretty well, no noticable speed reduction either

I used Avast! with root access. They pioneered call blocking and anti-theft for Android. I don't use anything for "security" now. Mostly I just use VPN and stay away from sites and apps that will take over my phone.

Well to be honest, I feel Android is taking over my phone .... wonder what the cure for that would be? :p
