Andriod Anti virus

If you are careful, you do not need any antivirus on an android device.

The only thing that some antiviruses can do is if you have root access (by default you do not) you can reset your device should it get stolen. You can even take pictures and videos, some you can even listen to the background as well as track via the GPS.

By the way, I do use mine this way :) Helped out once! I took a picture and got a clean image of the dudes face as well as gave the police the GPS location and had my phone back the same day.

I use Bitdefender Mobile Security. It is very accurate and blocks any threat.Unfortunately you must pay for it,but you can get the free version as well.

I have AVG pre-installed on my Sony device. Along with this, I use a fire wall to control internet access for apps. That way even if you have a app that tries to steal your info, since it cannot access the internet without my permission, my phone stays safe.

What Firewall control are you using?

No root fire wall, also known as "super battery drain pro". Apparently they haven't found a hack to root my phone safely. So have to use this.

Android anti virus, i think AVG is better, I have tried it, but to get better and secure protection always go for the paid version.

I hope you know that, pretty much any type of android phone can download files from the internet.(like apk files) Which can contain viruses. Also from apps/sites like 4shared where you can download games/apk files for free which quite frequently contains viruses. So for that use you should definetely usa a anti virus programme. Be warned everyone! (please share your opinion on this :))

I don't use an antivirus at all when I was on android I just did not have a use for it because I knew not to download any crap and I knew android was a pretty safe OS but now I switched to iOS and I still not using an antivirus cause 1: I can't find any 2: There is no use iOS is one of the best mobile operating systems

Honestly, you could just use your brain. Currently on my phone, I have Malwarebytes. However, I've never had a virus detection on my phone, like ever. So based on my experience, you really don't need one. I mean, it's not like there are many ways you can get a virus on your phone, as compared to your computer. Just use some common sense (don't go to shady websites...), and you are good.

I am a big fan of Avast Security, because it's available for Linux/Windows and Android.
So I don't have to get used to 3 different GUIs to maintain the virus/spyware defense on my devices.
Besides this usability advantage, the virus recognition of Avast Antivirus free offers the same capabilities than the ultimate version which is one of the best currently available.
To answer some of the previous posts: I think mobile virus detection is becoming more and more important, because the more people use mobiles for i.e. mobile payments the more hackers will try their luck on hijacking them. And Android security patches are updated around every 40 days only.
