Animated Avatars

Enabling animated avatars on peoples posts. I have several avatars that I could use, but they are animated. My current avatar also is supposed to be animated.

I've checked around in other Forums, and not all people like animated avatars. Like they can be annoying or distracting for some.

I've added a poll to the OP so that we can get a picture of how many people are in favour of animated avatars. Not necessarily to implement them, but to be able to make a calculated submission that proves support from a good size number of the Forum members.

It can be annoying to see some animated avatar but maybe with a few rules to what animated avatars you can have it could be quite good. i wouldn't mind seeing animated avatars as long as they are appropriate.

Oh, by the way, I have an animated signature.. Is it annoying for you guys? I just thought of asking.

I think an animated avatar like the one dmull posted isn't annoying at all So something along those lines maybe.

I voted yes, but probably won't be one to use an animated avatar since I've already got an animated signature banner.

Dmull's avatar is also fine. Very subtle.

MyBB allows gif files as avatar, if your .gif avatar is too huge it will be re-sized and the animation will be lost.

The maximum dimensions for avatars are: 120x120 pixels.
The maximum file size for avatars is 250 KB.

i don't care weather avatars are animated or not because i can just ignore them unless the are really really obnoxious.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind anyone that doesn't want to view animated avatars, there are a number of browser plugins which you can avail yourself of to solve this dilemma.

In Firefox you can disable animated images by setting the image.animation_mode to none in about:config. Note that this will disable all animated images on all pages, not just for the avatars on this forum.

Changed my mind, 150x150 is too big for this theme. It's back to 120x120

Agreed. I like 120X120 better too. Looks as though the animation is working well.
