Hi, I want to start a private hosting for my friends on my server, but the cPanel license price is so expensive. Can anyone find any cPanel alternative that is free has all the features cPanel has and easy to use like cPanel? Thanks.

Guess that must be "dreaming" to find a free panel with all of cPanel attributes. And unrealistic to expect. There's hard maintenance and a paid skilled force that goes into cPanel scripting and you get what you pay for.

There are plenty of cheap alternatives available but none will get even close to cPanel. They are also all as good as the support they get from a security point of view.

For a server that has decent RAM I'd go for something like WEBMIN. You can check through a tutorial below:

For a VPS with more limited RAM I would go for a very light free panel like VestaCP. I wouldn't say VestaCP is a perfect panel and it has come up with security issues in the past, but I've been using it since 2015 on VPS only. It has a large number of the same features that cPanel has. Including creating accounts. I don't use its e-mail and FTP features, as I see those always as a vulnerable place for hacking. I use a free e-mail host - Zoho for e-mails. What I like about Vesta CP is that it has accumulated a lot of support documentation and has a reasonable up to date discussion Forum that is supported by hands on Admin. It takes some learning to get into it, but once you've gone through the basics, and adapted it for your own use, it becomes easy. What I like most is that it comes with an install script. It is also very light to the touch and since it comes with nginx it moves very fast as well. You can check it out here - I use the advanced install settings with no e-mail and FTP.

On my point of view, the Virtualmin is a good alternative of Cpanel. This panel has a lot of functionality, support Lets Encrypt sertificates and updates out of box. I have spent few years working with this panel after Cpanel, and Virtualmin has a lot of possibilities to configuration

Only one of cons that was uncomfortable for me in Virtualmin it was a pretty old user interface, but it is easy to fix switch to Authentic-theme in the settings. After this you will receive a very fast and convenient system with modern interface for free

I would suggest using Webuzo as a Cpanel alternative. It has a clean and easy interface and it is fairly similar to Cpanel. I have used Webuzo coupled with Google Cloud VM instances and it is as good as using Cpanel. You can get a VPS server license for a year only @ $25. There is also a forever free license with certain limitations. Visit www.webuzo.com/pricing to learn more.
