Best freeware download sites

I find that I have to be particularly careful when I download freeware to check what I tick, as quite often even the apparently reliable download Websites use tricks in adding things I don't want.

Any way, which are your preferred download sites, and why do you prefer the sites?

I use torrent because of my slow internet connection , but If you ask me I think every website that write about the software features and how , why to use it , is a good website

Most of forums copy/paste from other forums and put a link to the same place
I find the ad tricks very annoying too although I use ABP to block ads and popup blocker enabled but I still get tricky ads

Strangely enough I seem to be using sourceforge myself. I'm VERY careful though with what I tick and untick.

mostly i try in google .. but sometimes I use softpedia.com , it is almost the same as download.com
but i am not sure which is superior :smile:

I'd advise against using anything by CNET as they stealth install bullshit software, spam and try to overtake your web browser. How they are allowed to get away with it is beyond me.

Absolutely. I've got personal experience with them bundling stuff in by stealth. I.e. one has to be super alert to unclick clicked boxes that add in junk by default.

i always open the site everyday for make sure about new version of my program

sometime i ever open oldversion and oldapps for searching my installed program on precious time

From my opinion, best way to download free staff is using torrent. There is a chance we may loose this resource, because with anti-pirate low and all that crap, so before it happens don't waist your time on demo crap. just download full versions and new movies and all other staff, my recommended site is http://extratorrent.com/ - its my number one on the list.

Just tried that site and it's showing an error page. Also, downside to torrents is all the uploading but now I upgraded my internet so I can download/upload a lot, but I notice my connection drops as soon as I run torrents for bigger files.
