Does anyone use a certificate from CAcert for signing emails and / or
for securing your websites ?

StartSSL is another (free) provider, but CAcert is a community based certificate authority. I like that.
But as I heared, some browser do not distribute CAcert's root certificate.

What is your experience ?

Woah, free SSL? I would be careful, but I would definitely try it out. My SSL certificate cost around $70 per year. I do not know how they could offer it for free. I feel the best way to try this out would to register it for a website that you do not care much about, just to try it
