Can you change Gigarank domain without losing content?

Hi all, thanks in advance for any help. I used the forum search tool, and couldn't find any results for my question.

I have a free hosting account here, and am wondering if it's possible to swap out the main domain associated with my account, without losing any content? I have an add-on domain also on the same account, and don't want to lose that content either.. Basically, I just want to change the main domain for a different project.

Or, if since I have the add-on domain-- if I just create another add-on domain for the domain I plan to use more often, and leave this original/main account domain as it is, will that be ok? I don't want to get in trouble if it looks like it's just a parked domain with no activity really going on.

What is the content of the domains? WordPress? Also, did you create the WordPress installations with softaculous, i.e. are they listed under WordPress installation in Softaculous?

Hi there-- yes, that's correct. Both the main domain, and also the add-on domain have wordpress installed through softaculous.

OK, I'm not entirely sure what you want, except you want to maintain the integrity of your Website accounts, regardless of where the domains go, without having to fiddle too much with their configuration files?

In that case I'd use the Duplicator Plugin that is an excellent tool for migrating the content from one domain or one server and domain to another. It makes the content of the domains completely portable and independent of the domain.

Here is an article about how to use the Duplicator Plugin.
http://gigarocket.net/blog/effortless-wordpress-migration-from-one-server-to-another/

I'd go straight to the Youtube video that is posted there and you'll get the picture of how it works.

Basically all you have to do is create an Installer and backup package in the Duplicator dashboard. It runs you through the process. You then have to create an empty mySQL database for the destination domain. Then upload the Installer and backup package to the root folder of the destination domain. When you get the installer.php up and running you complete the details of the empty mySQL database and password. It will then guide you to saving the permalinks, and you can then access the copied WordPress site - with your old username and password.

Best is to view that YouTube video in its entirety first. When you've used it once, you'll remember the steps after.

Once you've created the package for your main domain, you can post a request in the webhosting support forum and we'll then change the main domain to a different domain of your choice, or it can be our own sub-domain. If you want to swop your primary with an add on domain, you'll have to remove the add on domain first.
