Changing nameservers?

Hi I have a free web hosting account with this subdomain nduwib.gi9.co . I was wondering if I can keep the hosting account without the subdomain because I want the subdomain given by my college : uwib.nd.edu . What steps should I take in changing nameservers and would the files in wordpress be affected? Thanks!

If you have access to edit the dns on the sub-domain provided by your college is that you change the nameservers to point to our servers, which are:

ns1.gi9.co
ns2.gi9.co

Then add your sub-domain as an addon domain, which will allow you to use it with your free hosting account. From experience though, universities, colleges and schools usually provide you with limited webspace to host your files, but lack features such as mysql.
