From across the Atlantic, I would say that there is a coup going on in Brazil right now. Granted that the corruption is endemic (like in any other 3rd world country---I don't buy in the concept of emergent markets), but one has to look at the bigger picture to see Washington's ghost trying to get Brazil back into its backyard and away from the BRICS.
Brazil is a rich nation with a lot of intellectual potential. The problem is (as always) in the political class and the endemic corruption that sometimes amounts to treason to their own national interest AND that (my friend) is the problem facing every country around the World.
We are facing (everywhere) an elite class with close ties with the Western elite (you know those 1% in every country) that if not kept in check will sell you (and your future generations) to the Western bankers as A MODERN-DAY SLAVE.

I'm inclined to stay away from most of these types of events. Not only in Rio but anywhere else in the world including Europe these days.dmull said:I am glad that I am not in Rio as well. There was a few people from all of the countries that did not go because they thought that there was going to be some type of attack their. I love to watch the Summer Olympics!
