Decrypt a plugin or not?

I have build a couple of plugins for WordPress, should I incrypt the files? I want release them for free if they leave my backlink in place.

If you do not want someone break the copyright I think yes. Its fair enough because you want to release for free.

I think using php/javascript obfuscator is the best encryption then base64 basic method. Its more harder to decrypt your script.

I would not encrypt the files for one very simple reason: it's no longer truly open source.

The problem with encrypting plugins is that it adds a level of distrust because since no one can really read your code or see exactly what it does, then you COULD be hiding something malicious in it.

I personally never use any sort of plugin or file on a website because it is always at least some level of a security risk.
