I've tried it, I have it installed actually. Pretty sure it works as it is claimed to work, never had problems.

VirtualBox provides you complete virtual system and that's what I'm using for testing software. Also, if software needs to install driver you won't be able to properly install it inside SBIE.
For risky surfing I also use Virtualbox. After each session I restore clean snapshot

I personally found sandboxie to be quite difficult to work with and personally use virtualmachines when running untrusted software however I am led to believe that sandboxie may use less resources.

Oh yes. Yes yes yes always VM. A Windows VM is better than sandboxie because it is near impossible for the virus to escape.

For example, I have a Windows VM on the ubuntu i'm using right now
