duckduckgo search engine

Regardless of @"excrucio" posts (i offered to help you) he/she is right in so much as the results compared to Google are perhaps not as good but I'd like to point out that using duckduckgo is like using Google years ago, if you take time to use operators etc it's actually very good.

The whole point of it is privacy, you get better results from Google because they have a database with years worth of data on you and your search trends, it's like Facebook, do you have any idea what you put out there?

Check this link and remove some Google tracking...

Here is some chrome experiments, because too Facebook and Google: we're lab rats to the company's

Now think, which search engine would you really prefer to use now you've got some facts?
@"excrucio" which sounds very Harry potter to me. Back to your spam posts, see how to make your comments more helpful to the community?

I'm also on Google (now completely weaned off Firefox after many years of loyally using it) - but for me it's the equivalent of giving all of your freedom away in order to get maximum search results. Also giving Google more power. I hate it that any one corporation has so much power, as they then get to dictate Internet terms and conditions.

I'm always on the lookout for Google alternatives. Since I'm back on Internet, will check the alternatives out. I tried Slimjet - that is based on Chrome - but looks like a good alternative - probably will download this again and use it as an additional backup browser.

Duckduckgo regrettably is limited for me. A few years back one could probably get away with limited, but nowadays security is on the top of everyone's list with privacy and speed probably just after or neck on neck. I recall Slimjet being faster than Chrome since it's a barebone type browser - Chrome less a whole bunch of bells and whistles. Slimjet is probably intended for users who don't use a whole bunch of applications that come with the browser. The more applications people use with their browsers, the more one would probably find them under the real large browsers like Opera, Firefox, Chrome, Bing etc.

@"Genesis" pleased to hear you're finally online, aiming the comms company finally got some copper organised?

Browsers are a good subject, the mainstream are bloated and I've never heard of Slimjet... Browsers and search. So Slimjet is the browser alt, what instead of Google? Is there even another way of web search?

@"c0nvct" I don't think there is anything better than Google. All my browsers, including the non-chrome ones, are set with Google search pages.

Doesn't say Google search tool is really great in my eyes. As I think some of the search results are heavily slanted to their advertisers. Or some of their algorithms aren't really working in the direction of quality search results - more along the lines of quantity clicks. For example if one Googles on "cpanel free hosting", there are a few results in there that shouldn't be at the top of the search results.

HOWEVER, I haven't found another Google search tool that is better than Google ..... yet! I'm still hoping though. No doubt when it does make its appearance it will figure out a way to get a person to subscribe. As it may be costly to create and maintain.

No, there's nothing that can touch Google and I, like you have it as default search.
I'm aware of what I collects, but to use the Internet without leaning a footprint is practically impossible.

I used the Firefox plugin for noScript, then I visited weather.com -36 connections to other sites, ad-servers and tracking servers, the noScript is not intuitive at all so was just impossible to use without understanding it, however, it was the information it gave me that I found shocking!
On one hand it's scary just what we let go. yet typical on the other hand.

It was installed once on my Chrome browser (from a software as an ad I think) and could not deal with it :/
I am used to Google engine, which finds exactly what I seek for by 99%. Cannot change it with anything else!

I never used this search engine. all the times I use Google for anything I need. Although I know that it's the search engine which does not track you.

I am also using duckduckgo but to be honest, results are not so good like in google...

Google have a rank system depending of many things. for example:
  • number of words
  • keyworks
  • code
  • site structure
  • number of inbound links
  • and many others...

you can install and check the rank with google tool bar

that is way most of people use the google and find what they are looking for, very fast.

however, google needs to get paid for all that work.
one off the way, is selling your research and give you access to promotion and as we know.. SPAM.
