Found a Really Cute WP Theme

I found a cute theme to go with my coconut oil post called coconut trees by shores lae051. It's a free wp theme and they have several to pick from. I think it's called free wp themes 4 you. I downloaded the coconut theme as a zip through the wp installer. The one I picked is 2-column, and I decided to change the sidebar into image widgets, but having problems centering the images in the widgets.

So I thought maybe I needed to make a child of the theme and did. However, back at the ranch on wp I get the message the parent theme is missing, but it isn't. I've read so many wp forum articles about how to fix this problem, and everyone has a different answer.

I may just upload my image widgets and let them be off-center. I love the theme and it looks more appropriate than twenty thirteen. However, twenty thirteen works good. Perhaps I'll turn it into a 2-column, but wish I had the coconut theme.

This one? It is a nice theme. Hmm, could you try making a testing site or something with the image widgets you're using, and post the link?

Yes, that's it. I'm using the one on the far right. The articles I read about the missing parent theme wp says is missing stated the parent theme may be in another folder, so they suggested installing the theme unzipped through the dashboard and I did. However, when I created the child theme I still got the parent theme is missing, but it is not. I'm going to try using the theme available. When I get it all together with the images I'll see about posting the links.

One thing I noticed in the stylesheet.css is where it says URI theme, that field is blank.

@"Jasmine333" Hmm, as long as the path to the parent theme is valid, using child themes should work. If no one else has the answer, I would try posting in the WordPress support forum.

I decided to drop the coconut theme after I went to cpanel the other night and try to see if the parent theme was possibly in another folder, as some on the wp forums found that to be the case with their parent theme installation problems. So, just out of curiosity I tried to upload the coconut zip theme through file manager and got a message the theme couldn't be uploaded because it contained a virus. I've gone back to twenty thirteen child.

Now my concern is being able to center images in widgets and have read article after article on the forums, and others can't get their images centered either. Some provide a code they say to enter in the widget, but don't say whether to enter it in the field for title, link, link text, text or where. I've tried all of those fields in the widget to no avail. I've tried adding two or three codes to style.css to no avail. I've pretty well decided for some reason wp won't center the images, so probably will just leave them off.

Funny thing is, when the images are uploaded to the media center from the web to wp they are in the center of the widget. But when the images are saved through the uploader and come out on the page or post, they are off-center on the widget and can't be centered.

I'm thinking of trying Joomla or Drupal to see if some of these wp issues go away.
