Free eu.org sub domains - best sub domain service I have used

I have been seeing many people here trying to have a free domain or subdomains. Many register for a .tk, .cf, .ml, .gq domains which are a mess to deal with - they take your domains away if there are very few visitors or if your visitors are more - or sometimes they just don't work.. . :fool:

So I have a suggestion for you - Use http://eu.org/

This is one of the best sub domain services that I have ever used. They are completely non profit as far as I can tell and the service is excellent.

They will give you a sub domain if your cause is genuine. Your sign up isn't automatic, every sub domain request is carefully checked for spam. But this ensures that all sub domains under eu.org are present in Google and other search engines.

They won't take your domain away if you get too many visitors or less visitors.. :yahoo:

Their website may look something created from the default page in BSD, but underneath the simple interface is a beast of a service..

I tried it and the DNS didn't propagate well. It's MUCH MUCH easier to get a dot.tk domain.

Domains are so cheap these days, can't understand why one would subject oneself to so much stress to get a European sub-domain. I don't like the idea of a sub-domain either. It takes a while to apply for. For me it wasn't an easy process and I gave up in the end.

I used cloudflare dns servers in eu.org. Had no issues with propagation. Any changes in the A, CNAME or MX records can be done in clouflare.

Of course the best option is to buy your own domain. But sub domain services are there for those who can't come up with the money like students or non profit organizations.

True. But there are many free alternatives to dot.eu.org. Could have worked for you because you persisted and you are using cloud flare successfully (I found Cloud Flare a pain). But most people like to get their domain names fast. They also give up when it gets too difficult. My dot.tk Websites may not get as many search results, but I only use them for development or fun. For serious Websites I go for paid domains. If you buy a paid domain wisely you don't have to pay that much. How much is 1USD or 4USD per year really?

I use paid domains for me (my own use) and some for some clients. All those paid domains are certainly worth their price. But these free domains or sub domains are for those people who can't afford or who doesn't want to pay for them or like to experiment with them. I have only insisted with eu.org because they don't kick you out or use your domain or sub domain for their purpose when it grows.
