Namecheap still give 1 year of whois guard for free whenever you buy a domain. If you want to renew the whois guard after a year you will have to pay. It's free with every domain but if you wanted to have a 5 year renewal when you buy a domain the first free year does not take in to account.

I like that about Namecheap. Also, the renewal of the Whois Guard is not very expensive - like approx 4 US$. Compared with GoDaddy's US $8.

namesilo.com works well for me. Free whois protection, and you can find a 1$ off coupon code online super easily.

I should try them out for sure. Was just thinking a few nights ago I've got too many of my domains with NameCheap. "Too many eggs in one basket". I need to diversity.

OK. I've just purchased a domain at namesilo.com and it's about 2 dollars cheaper than Namecheap. Processing was smooth - no problem with payment. And free Whois Domain protection (for life). Latter is a special perk of being a member of domainsilo.com. So far so good! :good:

Looks like a good find. Will definitely try them out. I've been using dot.tk, but am getting worried as many of my friends have lost their dot.tk domains. I'd at least like to have a backup for it in case it gets removed by Freenom.

I like having many domains with one provider it just seems more organised for me since I would not have to log in to different services to check my domains which would be annoying to me. But if a domain is significantly cheaper from another service then I might think twice but overall I like to keep with one good reliable service.

Whois protection is the biggest BS - it should never be more than $1 at most, which is already high considering all they do is just use their corporate address and keep your real address info on file.

I couldn't agree more with you Peace. So Namesilo is going in the right direction with it. That was definitely a plus for me when I signed up with them. No BS and everything is easy to navigate. Easier than Namecheap in fact.

I had domains from different domain registrars like Name, Godaddy, Bigrock alongwith namecheap, but its hard to manage all the domains sometimes. So now I register my domain at namecheap only. Whois is free for a year and with the coupon code you can renew whois for a dollar. From the past experience I've learned that discount/cheap offers do not continue forever. So if namesilo continues to provide free whois, I will buy domain from them.

Edit: Just checked namesilo, they even don't charge ICANN fee. Thats cool.
