This is definitely a nice feature.

Some thoughts on potential upgrades (I'm sure you have your own ideas but it doesn't hurt to share):

Statistics (visitors, visits, robots)
connection speed (ping from my location to the server)

I don't currently have vps hosting, so I'm not sure exactly what comes on the gigapanel in that end, but it'd be cool to see load/memory/disc usage from the forum page.
