I`m guessing those of us all that are quite web savvy have already probably heard of a Search Engine that`s making some big ripples in a small pond of big search engines.

DuckDuckGo

www.duckduckgo.com

Easy to rank in that search engine! Their marketing ploy: Privacy..

Yep! Failed already..

Righteo. I gave that a go a while ago and it failed as well. Problem is, in order for a search engine to be REALLY good, it has to be guilty of being super invasive. The more invasive the better the search results. That's why I've given up and gone for Google. Totally compromised my principles. :p

I also tried this search engine, which I think works better than duckduck but comes short on search results:

https://startpage.com/

well the next big thing in search engines would be full integration with friends. For example, your friends submit content and should be asked to tag it, which will influence your search results (as if you're friends found value in something, you will likely find value in it as well). Imagine if all the search results were specific to what your friends liked or thought - so if you entered in "Best TV Show" it would display tv shows that your friends liked according to their social profile and what they've shared. The #1 result would be bassed on the number of friends that liked that content.

well new search engine come and goes they are a lot of them but they definitely will not last. Because they don't differ in other big search engine company. If they want to be big they should better than Big companies offer.

True. And when they get to that stage, they'd probably be big themselves.

It's an ok search engine, but asides from privacy (which is huge) there's not a lot to keep it going.

I suspect in 3 years time it's likely to die - unless of course Google gets caught in a major data privacy leak.
