Have you ever tried to submit an item for sale on Envato?

Well I have tried a couple of times. It is not a pleasant experience, that's for sure.
I don't mean "not pleasant" because they rejected me ... rejections are normal part of life, just as acceptance is. After all I might not be good enough ... I really can live with that ...

But rejections without any explanations, that is so frustrating. At some point you got stuck. You don't want to give up, I consider that having an item on Envato, is not just the chance to make some money, it is a professional confirmation in a first place. But how can I improve anything if I don't know what am I doing wrong or what am I missing ...?

Then you try to ask for they Community for review ... but all you get is a few answers from similar, rejected users ...

Well ... if any of you have more cheerful and successful Envato story, I would really like to hear it.

I don't trust that setup at all. And here's the reason why. Last year there was a user at FFS who got suspended because of a backdoor virus that he got through a nulled popular WordPress Auto Business theme. That nulled theme came as a result of how they are set up at Theme Forest (part of Envato). Basically (this I heard from the "owner" of the theme) once the "owner" gets accepted at Theme Forest, then he gives the right for his theme over to Theme Forest. So when Theme Forest feels for whatever reason they want to drop the theme, the theme just completely disappears from sight, including the support forum associated with that theme. It's like it has never existed before, and the owner doesn't have the right to market it any longer or support it any longer.

That particular theme that got dropped was a very VERY popular auto business theme, so much so that now that it's no longer available either from the owner (who is not allowed to support it or post it because of its agreement with Theme Forest) or from Theme forest, the person will do anything to get hold of the theme, particularly when it is available from somewhere else, and just close his eyes to the fact that it is a nulled theme. To our detriment of course. As nulled themes are sitting ducks for mischief makers to add malware to it.

If I were as gifted as you Misharnet, I'd rather submit the them at wordpress.org themes, and do as most theme owners there do. Provide additional features and more detailed support at their own websites on a paid subscription basis.

As the matter a fact I wasn't submitting WordPress Theme. I was submitting some Graphic vector designs, web icons, avatars ... now as being rejected, I can post some screenshots so you can see it :

They said it is too far from their standards. And that's it?! Not a word, what standards, what particular part of it is not acceptable ... this is vector file so it is fully editable ...

Well ... I just wanted to share my experience .. it is frustrated that you invest a lot of work and they can't even provide a sentence or two of explanation.

Really awful story @"misharnet" ! I've heard so many bad things about Envato pulling themes and stuff, but I didn't know they would reject people without any explanation as to why. Hmm, have you tried https://creativemarket.com ? It's pretty popular for graphics and such.

There is three possible scenarios ...

1. To be accepted.

2. To be soft rejected. It means that something should be adjusted or changed, improved and then you can resubmit it.

3. To be hard rejected. It means it can not be improved and you cannot resubmit it and they cannot provide any additional comments, reviews ...

Now when something is labeled as "cannot be improved" to me it means it is trash, useless ... no one would ever want to use that ... especially wouldn't want to pay for it.
But on the other hand, reading other People's experiences, you could be rejected because you submitted it in a wrong category or if your Title are not set right according to their standards... but they don't inform you about that ...

Those vector designs are really great Misharnet. I suspect they got rejected because maybe Envato has enough people they know who are supplying something similar and it's just so easy for them to click on any reason because of the way their system has been set up. It wasn't personal. If you submitted it somewhere else you may get them accepted. Or who knows, if you tried again later, someone else at Envato may say yes. I'd just move to the next service and not worry about it.

Ugh, that sounds awful! Those vectors are so good too. From reading people's bad experiences with WordPress themes bought from there, I thought were probably less picky with what they'd accept...

It turns out that it is a kind of lottery ...ha, you depend on whom(reviewer) will the wheel stop ...
