You can get a free domain from http://www.freenom.com/en/ or winning a specific competition at Gigarank.

As GigaGreg wrote, domains ending with .tk are free, and can also be acquired here: http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html
Besides providing with your personal information (not overly invasive), it only requires a manual renewal every 12 months. I haven't had any problems with the domain per se and it's forwarding.

I can't register any domains in freenom.com I emailed them and they said we can't tell you the exact reason but we are unable to proceed your request at this moment. just lol.......... :dodgy:

I just recently registered a free .TK domain at freenom.com and it works fine didnt receive any errors

most (dot)tk are blocked from the USA from a few chosen ISPs. Honestly not sure why.

Maybe you tried to choose domain name with only 3 or 4 letters ...

Hmm, did you need to buy first for get .xyz domain?

Hostinger is now providing a charged .xyz domain service.
A few months before, it was complete free of charge.

Everytime I create a domain name they cancel it. Everyone I create, I would say about 4. Saying that there is no website on it and there is.

Freenom and dottk ar the only one's I've used until now and they merged together to be only freenom as free domain name provider, I've more than 4 free domain name whit them and you can easly add others and modify their records/url forwording options, I do recomand It as the best one until now on the market

Freenom cancelled one of my domain names and now I can not create any more domain names. Not sure what is going on. Be better off just buying a domain.

I have had many issues with Freenom. I wonder if there are others sites that offers free TLD domains.
