I love Paris! :)

That's great! I haven't been to Europe, but if I ever got the chance, Paris would be one of the places I would go. Relatives have told me such vivid stories about it that I feel like I already know what it's like in a sense, but I bet it would be awesome to visit the actual place. Have you visited Paris a lot, Genesis?

I've visited Paris only two times. All I can remember are the cobbled streets that aren't straight and one has to move around more by instinct than by map. Also the pastries were quite delicious, particularly for someone who couldn't afford to eat out in Paris. It's quite expensive to stay there and if one plans to visit, it would be a good idea to plan carefully in advance. There are other cities in Europe that are more memorable for me though. Rome for starters. I'd really like to get back there one day.

Mostly last night I was having fun, because Gigarank is somewhere in France. I thought it was Paris, but looks like we're more North of France near the border of Belgium. Previously we were also in an interesting city in France - Gravelines. We're now in Roubaix (or I think we are).

Woah, cobbled streets and delicious pastries! Sounds fun & good to know. Rome sounds awesome too. Do they let you get close to the ruins?

Ah, that explains it. Roubaix looks like a nice place. When I think about it, it's amazing that a server located in one place can send data all over the world.

I liked the Vatican city in Rome. I went right up all of the stairs to the roof of St. Peters and had a look of the whole of Rome. Was memorable. I can't remember seeing ruins, but then I probably focused on non-ruin areas. I loved their coffee shops.

Back to our server, looks as though OVH has a real collection of data servers and physically they look like this:

How's this for a different take on our server security? :p

This is a prettier picture of where our servers are:

Woah, I didn't know they let people go all the way up to the roof of St. Peters! I bet the view must have been incredible!

As for the servers, are those barbed wires in the first photo? I wonder if some thief would actually try to climb up there. Looks like a fairly large building.

They are barbed wires indeed. Like a different take on server security .... hehe .... :p

I also wonder why people would like to climb walls like that. They have plenty of those in South Africa, and the ones in South Africa are electrified as well. Maybe those in Roubaix are too.

Paris is nice, i've only been there briefly but the city itself seemed a bit grimey and gloomy? or maybe it was the weather idk...
Agreed. And I remember the Hotel I stayed at was rickety. Like that old architecture where if someone walks next door you can hear the wood creaking. Carpets that are decades old. What impressed me though was that many Parisians can speak English. I was warned that that would not be the case and that Parisians would be unhelpful if one addressed them in English, but I found exactly the opposite.

When I was visiting family in South Africa we were visiting friends in a town house with the electrified fencing directly behind the townhouse. Right against the barbecue area in their tiny little backyard, like almost squashed against it (modern town houses these days are more like doll's houses). We heard stories about people accidentally touching the area, and getting shocked. Exactly as you described. Guess one has to make sure one's "living area" is not close to a fence like that. Can't be healthy either.

@Genesis Oh my gosh, that sounds pretty awful! I'm surprised that they didn't send a complaint or something to the neighbor with the fence. Sounds like a hard environment to raise kids or even pets in.

I always wanted to go to Paris, check out the Eifel tower and other places! Darn, that is my plan in the future just to go there and have fun!
