Import website to WordPress

I am currently making a website for a client and would like to know if it is easy to import the site to WordPress. The client wants to be able to update the website herself without me having to manually put the updated code in.

Is this easy to do or are there other more efficient methods to this?

What format is the Website you are importing? Is it also WordPress?

No I am coding it with brackets and using stuff like bootstrap if that what you mean, I have no experience in WordPress so I am not too sure how it works.

No problem my friend, you just have to read stuff carefully and first just follow the tutorial, once you get the grip of it, you may play around with your own styling and layout.

I am assuming that I can give the WordPress website to another user to change within WordPress easily?

Yes of course. That's how Wordpress works. You just backup database and ftp, then give to your customer then reactivate website config with the same database login/password, then create user account with admin/editor privigles.

Wouldn't one have to design the original Website in WordPress first though? One can create one's own theme, but if one has hand coded the Website, one would have to spend some time to recreate the pages and posts if the original Website hasn't been created in WordPress.

For me one would have to have a very good knowledge of working with WordPress first. If one doesn't, one won't be able to guide the client very well. There is so many things that can go wrong with WordPress, particularly when the site is handed over to the client. One should have advanced experience in order to troubleshoot issues.

Here's a really great place to learn all of the basics of WordPress - to an advanced level.

@"Genesis" If you created the theme first, that's actually better than creating the pages first. At least if you do so, you do not have to force a switch after all the pages are up and running, and potentially cause the site to break.

It's like the template vs the page if you self-code everything. If you do the page first then find out you needed a new feature, you would have to re-type(or copy-paste jobs) everything affected in the web host after actually making sure nothing breaks when testing a local(i.e. away from your web host, or at least the part that's live) copy of the page. Meanwhile with a template, you can do experiments without affecting the web host, and then pushing out the new page(s) created from the template after minor changes if required.

Think you misunderstood @CHT. I understand perfectly if one starts with a WordPress theme that everything will be easy - it is a no-brainer to import one WordPress site into another. But how I understood the question in the OP was that the Website that is being designed may be in a different format than WordPress.

I am currently making a website for a client and would like to know if it is easy to import the site to WordPress.

Probably did. I'll just leave that hanging around.

Back to the topic at hand, It really depends on how many features you have on the site that requires external stuff to work(e.g. SQL, JS).
I would recommend bringing a page over from the site, and make that page compatible with Wordpress themes. This is for testing purposes naturally.

IF you have exisiting word press or you are moving to new host with your wordpress then you may use updatecraft plus plugin or backbuddy the most used plugin to get it backup and transfer to new host.
