Internet country language default rant

This really irks me. Tonight I tried to register for an account at wordpress.org and the captcha was Arabic. It obviously defaulted it to my UAE IP and assumes that every person registering from the UAE is Arabic.

I also have this problem with Google in the UAE. My account defaults to Arabic. I understand that Google has a special understanding with the countries outside the US that Google accounts language has to default to the language of the country, but in the UAE there are three primary languages: Arabic, English and Urdu. Ditto other countries like Canada. The French in Canada could easily start a revolution with Google for excluding French from the generic language for Canada.

Websites really should respect the Accept-Language HTTP header field. I'm surprised if big players like Google doesn't even do that. Are you sure you don't have Arabic listed?

No Peter. And if you check the Web for discussions on the topic you'll see how upset users are. It's a country politics thing. Arrangement between Google and the country where Google is. That I can understand, but they should make it easier to default to US. Not sure why they are not doing that.
