Internet Safety-Browser Plug-ins

Everybody wants to be safe on the internet, but the perfect internet doesn't exist(yet). So,until then, let's have a look at what plug-ins you should install in your browser to be (a bit more) safe.
1.HTTPS Everywhere:HTTPS Everywhere's job is to redirect any HTTP link to a HTTPS equivalent(if it exists). If you don't know what is HTTPS,let me explain.HTTPS is a way of transfering information over the internet encrypted,so nobody (except you and the server) can know what is being transfered(useful for private data like bank accounts).
2.Privacy Badger:privacy Badger's job is to block tracking cookies, websites, etc. from obtaining your navigation data (usually browsing habits) in order to "attack" you with ads, spam, and the list goes on ... .Brivacy Badger doesn't have a default list with what to block. It learns as you surf the web.

If you have any other recommendations, please let me know by replying to this post!
Stay Safe!

I would also recommend an Addon like No Script to forbid Java Script.

A lot of nasty attacks happen because some webpage was hacked and intruders inserted malicious javascript that runs on your computer.
So you can get hacked even though you browser legitimate sites.

One short note:
Deactivating JS is not the most comfortably but prevents a lot of attacks.
Sometimes it can be necessary to activate JS, but its better to do so for 1 Page than for all pages your browsing.

Wish you all good luck

I suppose that a VPN can give you some kind of security level, but it depends on what you want to have when dealing with secure browsing.

For example, if you are looking for some privacy, and don't want your internet service provider knowing wich website you are really visiting, then a connection trough a VPN can help.

I recommend Hoxx VPN Proxy, it has extension for:

Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/hoxx-vpn-proxy/

Chrome:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hoxx-vpn-proxy/nbcojefnccbanplpoffopkoepjmhgdgh

There are special VPN services, but they are not offer free plans, for instance:
https://www.expressvpn.com/

Hope it can helps to sum to the web security tools :)

Ad block also helps to improve your security because it is possible for ads to transfer viruses (malvertising) I highly recommend that you install ad block on your browser to increase the security on your browser. You should disable adblock for reliable sites like youtube and news sites.

There are many different adblock plugins some may change your default search engine which is annoying.

I use firefox and have religously always installed NoScript plugin.

Other good plugins I've used are Ghostery and uBlock.

If using Firefox, the Lightbeam addon gives a very good and detailed visualization of website trackers. Although it does not directly improve security, it does a very good job of showing you where your data goes.

That extension has never worked as it was intended. There are too many sites that force the insecure protocol except during authentication (logins) or purchases.

Probably the best thing you can do for security is to install ublock origin, but one of the next best things you can do is uninstall Flash entirely from your computer. Almost all browser exploits use a plugin to exploit the browser, and Flash is exploited more than any other plugin. If a website can't deliver you a HTTP5 video then it's not worth viewing the video anyway.

i do agree that script-blockers pretty much protect you from a great deal of hidden scripts which may run on a website. The downside to this is the requirement of unblocking and blocking every script on a website. It does take quite a while to find out which scripts are "safe" for use and which are mainly just for ad or other usages.
Google/Youtube ads can be blocked but you can't watch videos if you block certain ad-scripts. They also force you to watch ads once you blocked a certain number of ads
I'm living dangerously as after reinstalling my Windows 7 Professional the updates became so complicated to install with risks of freezing my system up that I opted for not installing any updates at all. Instead i'm using Kaspersky and Malwarebytes and hopefully between the two of them they can keep the bad guys out. I also have my browsers looking out for me - warning me when I'm in an environment where I need to pay attention.
