Internet without ISP?

I was wondering recently if it was possible to access the internet without using an ISP. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how, and how do ISPs give us internet access? anyone?

Well, you can't get an internet connection while being connected to an ISP (Internet Service Provider), because it's the ISP that makes a "bridge" to the website that you want to access.
For example, for you to access google.com, your router contacts your ISP saying that you want to connect to google.com, your ISP then says to Google that you want to access their website, and there will exist a "fake" bridge between your ISP and Google's servers.

One way I could see how is making a company that provides Internet access, but that's still considered an ISP.

So the answer in this case would be no.
