I think it's quite common to have a bit of humour on error pages for some reason. I have seen a few but I don't remember where.

I have once seen an error/temporary page with randomly generated cat image shown That was a pretty cool idea. That was used on theoldreader.com webpages, if I recall correctly.

I do not have any interesting 404 pages at the moment, some time ago I have used a digital painting of my own showing a guy sleeping on a construction site ;P
