Is my site gone forever?

I read here somewhere that the backups being restored are from may 2015. I moved my site here just a few months ago. Does it mean all of it is gone?

This is a site for a public figure, I can't have it closed for this long.

Yes it is Vera. Do you still have that backup? I remember you uploaded it to your site?

I really don't know where it is. It should be on my laptop but it isn't. I can't believe this is happening.

Contacted my old host to see if they have any backup, they did backups every week, but probably they don't since I moved it here.

I hope your old host has a backup. Let us know when you know.

Isn't your laptop new as well? I seem to recall you had some color issues with it? Could it be on another device as well?

:sorry: try this Pandora Recovery it's the best data restoration software I've tried thats free, it's saved my life many times for years, failing that you could buy Spotmau which does Raw recoveries of full hard drives even after a fresh install of an OS, I hope this works or you find a copy of your back up.

Thank you!!!

I found it in the recycle bin, which is a miracle because I usually delete files immediately after sending them to the bin. Not sure if it's the full backup, but it's a start! :clapping:

Fantastic news Vera. And we do need good news around here. :clapping:

Am I right you've got a premium account?

I'm moving though. I can't afford for this to happen again with this site. I was already going to move next year to my other host. All hosts tell us to do our own backups but they usually have all accounts backuped up too. I've had this happen once and the host was able to recover a backup from the previous week. I didn't back up the site myself, thinking I was safe. I didn't make that many updates but I still lost important updates that I won't be able to ever recover.

You don't need to set up a cpanel account for my paid/premium account here as I am planning on uploading the files to a different hosting provider.

Thanks for hosting me for the time being, but I am moving.

I will still like to keep my free account here - astoryboo.

Thanks!

I hear you Vera. I'm still waiting on an answer for this too. What does cPremote backup really mean as I thought we were getting daily backups that were stored in a remote location.

Lesson here for me is that one has to be completely responsible for one's own backup. Particularly if there is something of value in it. Even if a host says it's making daily backups, have one's own backup plan AND most important, save the backup to a hard disk in a secure location.

I usually backup every other month, especially this site, but these last months I have been super busy, didn't even have full time to update this site - which now ended up being a good thing - I really never thought something like this would happen to my dear gigarank. :( So I was going to backup the site in the early days of january when I'd be more available to do that.

So sad really. For me it won't affect me too much now that I located the files - lost some stuff but not too important - I can reupload those files again from scratch. Can't imagine what others will be going through...

My situation is similar. I've been completely swamped at work. Completely over the top. And didn't make a backup. Thought I'd wait until my break after my return from Oman. My last backup is first week of December (I think). Have to go home and check up on that. One of my greatest regrets right now. BUT I promise you and every one else reading this post. It will NEVER happen to me again.

On a side note, that Spotmau software allows you to restore data lost up to 6 months ago (depending on size of HDD) even if you've reinstalled your OS lol
I don't work for them, but I'm stressing how awesome the software is because I use it lots to bypass the Windows Password login screen for customers on a weekly basis, and even though you're leaving I really do hope you remain active on here as I've enjoyed your input over these months!

@ gen I've lost 3016 member accounts on the forum you were hosting, and how ever many THOUSANDS of posts they made within said forum, but I'm looking on the bright side, because my site was so awesome I know for a fact they'll be back and they will re-join :good:

I really never thought something like this would happen. With a different hosting provider I would do backups more often. On another one I was before I did weekly backups just because I didn't know them. Being with Gigarank for this much time I wasn't worried. I could've done a backup somewhere between September and December, but I didn't. I would always think "I will do it next week", and so on. I am with you on that. This will NEVER happen to me again. From now on, I will find time to backup it more often.

And @"aya" I can't even begin to think of that.... A forum isn't like a site. I lost some posts and photos but that was all and I have them still - thanks to the feature of sharing a post to facebook pages I have an idea of the posts I lost from wordpress and can rewrite them again. BUT that... good thing you say the forum is big so hopefully those can register back. :)

Thanks for the software suggestion. I think I will looking into that in case the files I have aren't the full backup. :yahoo:

*Also I am only moving my premium account. I still will be here with my personal blog that I updated but ended up deleting the posts and am going to launch in a few days. I am just waiting on the designer of the theme to get back to me because I lost it. :drinks:

Before you rewrite your post again make sure to chek the cache of webpage using google web cache. I was losing allmy post to but at this time google was saved my day...

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:sumusik.com.. edit with your own url..

Yes, This is one of a good solution if You lost your article and don't have backups. I have experience it before because I never care about backup my things. And Google save my day by their web cache.
