Is Twitter dying?

Twitter often tries adding new features, but they don't affect user growth much, as articles like this one from Wired show. Twitter is used by many in the IT industry, but almost no one I know outside it uses the site. Is Twitter dying? What do you think & why?

Well, I can not speak of Twitter from personal point of view, meaning, to have personal Twitter account. But for my websites it still brings a lot of views and visits ...
It brings also many Spammers messages, but many other Social networks do.

Now on the other hand, at least in my Country, Twitter played a significant role in Presidential campaign last month. Many Politicians and celebrities from my Country were leading a sort of "online war" during the campaign.

I am not using Twitter. I read articles, but I do not want to hear people's tweets.
Tweeting of important people is important.
Their tweets will be converted into articles and will reach me.
I think that Twitter is used by many people and will continue to live for a while.

I think the reason why Twitter kinda 'died down' is because it lost it charms. I used it a lot in the past and I'd say that the reason for it is because it's really easy to use. Compared to Facebook that's more into 'blog' or 'thread'-like, Twitter is presented in a shorter way 'chat'-like. You post a thing, it's public. You respond to a thing, it's public. The way that responding works can attract into a larger discussion and it's why I think it's awesome. But everything is changing. I think Twitter cannot keep up with the whole new things that other websites has tried out.

I dont think twitter is dying, but yeah, recently the decentralized social media platform, Mastodon, is taking over the internet. It has started gaining popularity as people can just fork the open source social media platform and host their own node. So, i guess many open source enthusiasts may use Mastodon.

Really did you ask this question? Twitter will never die. The president of the united states uses twitter and donald trump doesn't seem to use anything but twitter to vent his feelings.
I LOVE TWITTER it is so powerful if you manage it correctly

I never really got into twitter, however over time things will die down in popularity. I wouldn't say it's dying.

There are millions of people still using Twitter. Teens, Celebs mostly use it. Also it's Widely used by web hosting companies too. But these days Instagram is more popular among youg crowd. Still Twitter has their own big fan base.

I have a feeling that there aren't as many new subscribers as there were when Twitter was at its most popular. Like Whatsapp and Telegram have made major inroads in communications. Those who were using Twitter before probably still works with it, and also businesses like to add a Twitter Account to all of their social media accounts.

Well the Twitter is totally different from Whatsapp or Telegram. Later are basically phone based Chat applications. Twitter is an Macro Blog platform. People use to get updates on other people, companies, causes etc. It's 50/50 personal/business thing unless most of other social networking tools or Macro Blog platforms. People use to it to spread an idea or new fast among others. Basically Twitter has become a headache to some governments around the world. Few examples are Turkey, Pakistan, China etc. So Twitter still get plenty of users. Their problem is monetizing that huge user base to make enough profit.

Twitter is still very popular in western world and among the second in Macro Blog platform. And it helps me get much traffic even I have few followers (not established well) and very few posts.

In my viewpoint, I just find it is quite hard to gain followers on Twitter to help me gain more traffic.

to be honest i feel twitter isn't dying but i see where you are coming from a lot of people have many hashtags on twitter which provides twitter to blow up and also attracts new people but i haven't seen much on my twitter feed for a while which is quite usefull but celebrities are still helping twitter hold a audience and keeping twitter alive but over the time i feel twitter will die out because their will be something better for users to use eventually over time

I used to be on Twitter in 2012/13 and it was huge. Lots of people were having fun in the website but nowadays, it's just like a social media for celebrities; a really poor one if you ask me. I just saw a Paul McCartney post on Twitter and it has 2,000 RTs and 3,000 likes. The same post on Facebook has 43,700 likes. Twitter is dying, slowly dying. They should get rid of the 140 limit.

Agreed. You probably noticed though that they doubled the limit recently. But even with the doubling of the limit I still think it is working detrimental to them. They have outlived their usefulness. Perhaps they could change their Identity to Twitter instead of tweeting.
