Recent election news from Malaysia provides plenty of food for thought. There are so many ways to look at this that I can't really start to sort my perplexities... it's just a pity that the article doesn't go any deeper. Oh well, at least this politician will go straight into the Guinness World Records, even though I think it's pretty sad, if a country has to rely on a 92 year old for its future, I wonder how high its electors' hopes are... Said that, let's not forget that there are countries in even "worse" shapes run by "old" people... nothing wrong if old means wise, but I wonder how many people could truly define as "wise" politicians like Trump and his walls or Berlusconi and his bunga-bunga, just to take two random "first world" countries... Oh well, let's be stoic, after all even the definition of "wise" is subject of interpretation... However, to me nobody beats Spock: Live long and prosper ;-)

Isn't ripe old age a traditional way of appointing leaders in the Far East? Like the higher the age the wiser?

Sure, that's another valid point of view, but as usual, it's always a matter of definitions ;-)

On a more serious tone, I really wonder what is "wiser"... fighting for improvements in your own country at 92 year of age (a time that it's usually devoted to enjoying life as a pensioner) or giving up (fighting, living...) and having to escape your country because your rights of self-determination as a person are in danger?

Sorry, I know it's not related to Malaysia and no comparison can actually be made between the two cases, but it's just that I've read this piece of news about David Goodall, an elder Australian who had to fly to Switzerland because his country has a tad "backward" policy on the matter of life and death, or let's say "traditional" if any Down Under people take offence for such an adjective (it's referred to your policy, not to you as people, I hope this is clear).

Well, it really looks like Goodall disagreed with Mr Spock... RIP. These are really sad topics I'm afraid.
