Major Announcement: Gigalicous to Gigarank

This is an announcement to inform all our members and visitors that from the 1st Feb 2014 we will no longer be called Gigalicous.

We are changing our name to GigaRank, the main website (this one) will be moving to a new domain www.gigarocket.net

What will this mean for you?

No websites we host will be affected during the switch, you can continue using our free hosting service as usual.

Our premium members will not be affected.


Do I need to do anything?

No, continue as usual, if you land on the gigalicous.com domain from 1st Feb you will automatically be redirected to our new domain: gigarocket.net

Remember nothing is changing, we are simply renaming our website.

Why are we changing name?

We have noticed upto 40% of our returning visitors are having trouble finding us again due to simple typos and remembering Gigalicous, we are also frequently mistaken for Gigalicious.

Our Google Analytic`s data also confirm this, with many variants of Gigalicous being entered into Google search.

We feel renaming to Gigarank.net is the right course of action to remedy the above.

I wonder whether Gigalicous was a typo when ordering the domain if the intention was to assimilate with 'delicious'. Or does it have a reason for the missing 'i'?

I take it this forum will be transfered to the new domain as is, with all the old posts.
Not difficult as I have moved many a MyBB to different domains and servers if any help is required.

Lol, I am going to forget that for sure, as the company I rent my servers from used to be called Giga-International.

Great idea DJB. I'll definitely remember it better. Gigaweb.org is easy. Gigalicous I can remember for a while, and then if I've been away too long I have to look it up in my links.

Gigalicous was nice. Different. I kind'a got attached to it. I'm sure I'll like gigaweb too. Definitely looks easy to remember.

When I type 'Gigalicous' into my iPod touch, the automatic spell-checker seems to recognize it as a real word and doesn't try to transform it into anything else. (Although my Firefox browser highlights it as misspelled.) However, when I type Gigaweb into my iPod touch, it changes it into "Gigs web". I'm not sure what a "Gigs web" is, but it seems more well-known to Apple than Gigaweb (for now at least). Hopefully, in time Gigaweb will become a household word, synonymous with 'free web hosting'.

Thank you, Genesis. I just discovered Gigalicous(web) today. I've been using another free hosting provider (not sure if I'm allowed to mention names here). Anyway, they've been having server problems recently and have not been very responsive in addressing the issues. One of the admins who is familiar with the Gigalicous founders from a previous venture of theirs mentioned this site as a viable alternative, and here I am. Hoping for a positive experience.

Last thing left to-do is SSL certificate and submit to Google. And change any mentions of gigalicous to GigaRank.

Sorry I've been gone this last month, I'm glad to see the issues are being resolved and the website's rankings may increase due to these changes! Hope everyone is doing well!

It's good to be posting, especially at WORK!! The new domain isn't blocked by our firewall at work, so now I can definitely post more here at GigaRank! Awesome-sauce!!
