Hi-

Well, that was quick!! un4saken set up the account, and all is well..

..but is there any way to reinstate the mysql db from the old account? the name was 'midgard_QarC' and the backup disk they had for the db got damaged & they can't get it off...I have an ancient version of it locally, but it's so old, I'm not sure how useful it would be...[br]

So if you _can_ get that from the old midgard account backup, I'll post however many posts you want posted in the forums...!

Once an account is terminated, it doesn't exist any longer. We don't make backups of accounts. The responsibility for making backups lies with you the account holder. The TOS are quite clear about that. Suggest that you reread the TOS that you accepted when the account was opened for you. It's effortless to make backups of your account. Nothing more than a click on backups in your cpanel and then saving it in record time to the hard disk of your computer. Couldn't be easier than that. There is also a feature where you can make backups of your individual databases.

Furthermore, it's imperative that you check your PMs for communications from staff. Also check in at the Forum regularly for announcements that are made that may affect your hosting account, particularly with regard to cleanups. Making posts in our Community Forum periodically may also be a good idea as it would be an indication to staff you're still active and interested in your hosting account. Posts are always appreciated by the owner. They create more traffic and pay the bills. They also create plenty of goodwill in your favour.

Backup`s \ Restoration Policy
We strongly recommend that you backup your files and database/s on a regular basis. Gigarank will not be held responsible for data that has been lost. There is a feature in cPanel whereby regular back-ups can be made and saved on your hard disk as well as restored.

Periodic Clean-ups
Gigarank undertakes periodic clean-ups of the server to get rid of free website space that is no longer used. Clean-up Announcements will be posted in the Announcements Sub-Forum and it is your responsibility to visit the Forum regularly to check on these. If you should fail to respond to a Clean-up Announcement this will be interpreted as your account no longer being active, at which time the account will be terminated. It is therefore also imperative that you make regular back-ups of your Website as well. Once terminated, and provided your membership is in good standing with Gigarank, you may re-apply for a new Website account.

Hey-

Yeah, I knew all that, but I thought I'd check anyhow...actually, I'd rather spend the day posting to the boards over rebuilding the db...

But many thanks for the account restore!
