Hello,

PHP 7 is now enabled. If you want to try it you can login to your cPanel, select "Select PHP Version" under "Software and Services" and Change your PHP Version to "7.0" Select the modules you need. When you are done click "save" and "Set As Current".

I'm very happy and impressed at the same time. Great job - not only reinstalling everything but improving it and taking us to a higher level at the same time.

:good:

But what does it mean though? I know some scripts only work with the latest php version, but if I change will wordpress stop working? do I have to reinstall everything?

Excelent!
I don't know that we can select PHP version and setting nodule from cpanel. Is this feature available in free version?
If yes, that is amazing. My paid hosting account from my country doesn't give us permission to enable/disable PHP module.

Yes, it is available in the free version. When I had an issue with one of my plugins it was fantastic how much power we now have over our php. Also how up to date we are with all the versions that are available. Not only are you able to add modules, but you can also work with php settings in your cpanel.

@genesis

Yes, Your hosting company really powerfull even for freebies.
Sometimes inactive PHP modules make some plugins or other PHP scripts don't work. And it will be a headache if We don't have access to the PHP configuration.

Never used a php version higher than 5.4 . Also I see there is a big jump from 5.6.15 to 7.0.0 and I'm curious why.

No, just the version of the PHP you're using. We were previous on 5.4 by default and are now on 5.6 by default. We have a whole range enabled from 5.2 to 7.0 and can choose which one we want to be on by going into cPanel and tick on "Select PHP Version". Going past 5.6 may not be advisable unless you're a high-tech developer, as the applications that you are using may not be ready for more than 5.6. I'm going with the default 5.6 (I always trust un4's default :p) and have only picked up on one issue. The length of the duration of running processes. One of my plugins preferred it to be longer. So all I needed to do is change the length to longer.

And no. You don't have to be an expert on php to choose your php version. Just make sure you read the fine print of your plugins and or themes, i.e. the specifications for php version they recommend.

That all depends on the code that was used. If its older code, there is a chance it won't work with 5.6 and above. Like my code, it works fine up till 5.4, but not higher. Although some say the newer version of PHP is better, I don't believe it is.
