Positive domain purchase experience

I just love it when a new domain purchase works as beautiful as it worked tonight.

This experience was with Namecheap.com.

What had happened was that sadly I'd forgotten to renew a dot.tk domain of mine that I'd had since 2008. I was three days late. Then hoped to luck out with registering for it again, and this time round dot.tk wanted me to pay for it. So decided to go for a dot.net instead.

My purchase at Namecheap went through immediately as it usually does thanks to Paypal.

Then after I changed the name servers at Namecheap I held my breath for a little while. How long is it going to take the DNS to propagate? 24 hours or more? Or immediately?

Then navigated to cPanel and created a new dot.net add on domain. Moved the files of the old dot.tk site to dot.net, got rid of the old dot.tk add on domain.

And *drum roll*

It worked instantly! :yahoo:

Checked with DNS Inspect and it scored a beautiful "A" :clapping:

I love when it happens. For me when dns refreshes really fast is a big plus, because I want my websites to be up immediately when setting up a website again for reasons and I cannot access the site unless DNS refreshes.

I'm really jealous of you! But it's a very nice thing to get.

Thanks Greg. I've had instances of DNS not propagating immediately, also with Namecheap. Pretty irritating particularly when I've started a Forum or a WordPress site, and am anxious to get going on those. So when it does work well, it makes it doubly worth it.

I am like that myself. I will have big projects soon, which will be painful if I would have to wait ages for DNS propagation to update. Like people say Time is Money. I wish it could be instant, because sometimes making websites is really important.

No matter what domain registrar you use, dns propagate always takes time. But on the contrary I find namecheap to be fastest. In my experience it doesn't take more than one hour for known nameservers. I will update when I will get accepted by gigarank and update my nameservers :)

I remember the day when DNS Propagation did take a full 24hrs and longer if they was custom nameservers.

It does take name.com up to 72 hours when you buy a domain at a Friday.
