I was joined with many bigger forum sites. Then I see they have policy about posting with captcha including to prevent from spammer. I hope on the next future, gigalicous will doing like them.

Gigalicous is doing one step better than any of the other forum sites. They have un4saken, a tech admin who is around almost 24 out of 7. He has an impeccable record for always being one step ahead of spammers and mischief makers. You could minimize spam perhaps with special technology, but one can never compensate with technology for absence of expert admin management.

There are plugins to have captcha show if you have less than a certain number of posts. I've seen some forums with pre-approval required on all posts if your under a certain post count - which is really terrible, because it's quite annoying that your post may never get posted if the moderators are overwhelmed.

Agreed. I don't think that is a good way of doing it at all. Far better to disable links in the first 10 posts of new members. I'd imagine if a spammer can't have a link in his posts, he'd probably think twice before he would continue with his spam posts.
