Price different on Apple devices for memory.

Can anyone explain to me why apple charge an additional $100 for an extra 16gb memory on most of their devices?

For example an Apple iPad 16gb cost around $499 and a Apple iPad with 32gb cost around $599. That`s an extra $100 for just 16gb of additional memory.

I though memory was cheap! It`s not just Apple charging over the odds for more memory, other device makers also practice this.

lol Last week I had to buy an emergency supply of flash disks. We had 2GB flash disks in mind, so I went out to buy 50 2GB flash disks.

So this is what happened. There were NO 2GB flash disks available, as people don't use them any longer. There were 4GB flash disks available but in a small quantity for 7US$ each. So when I asked for the price of 8GB flash disks, of which I would have been able to get 50, it turned out they were 4US$ When I asked why, as I logically thought more GB would be more expensive, I was told that 8GB is in greater demand, and as the demand increases, the 8GB flash disks got to be cheaper. Etc.

Any way, bottom line, it sounds ridiculous. If a 8GB flash disk can be 4US$, how on earth 100US$ on an extra 16GB.

Guess it's all in the name. People would pay anything just so they can own an Apple Brand product.

These companies also have cloud storage which they want you to pay additional fee's for. Have you also noticed most smartphones and tablets only allow you 32GB additional memory via a microSD slot, why not 64GB or 128GB? They are still cheaper than the 64GB versions of the devices.

And let's not go down the write cycles route, who's going to use the device that long anyway? It's a big fat scam....

It is a scam, no one will use a 128GB on a smartphone or a tablet, unless you will watch movies on it. Apple is the same brand as Samsung or Nike, people are buying it because they want to be cool, Apple is just not enough...

I guess it must be worth it though. Sounds as though you have really great equipment. Think I understand now why you've been asking about anti-virus software.

Yea Its pretty nice, but i'm prety sure they're going to release something like a ipad air pro in a few months lol

True. And the new release would have a new bell and a whistle you don't really need, at the cost of battery power. Still think it's an awesome product though. I should try and learn how to work with an Apple this year as we have some new Mac Pros and Mac desktops in a Lab at work. No excuses.
