There are many ways to promote your Glype proxy on the web.

I never understood the economics behind running a proxy site - I mean you monetize by running banners and popup ads, but really how much could you really make from that considering that you can run ads in the website?

About 20k unique ones a month. Which isn't much.

Yes, thats unique. And for a proxy thats nothing.

I guess, wonder what the conversion rate is to get that traffic to your other sites. Do people go to proxy sites just to get to their content or do they peruse and actually digest stuff around the forms like related links (e.g., users access links in blog posts). If they're just in it to use the proxy, it seems like a really unprofitable industry - since they just use your bandwidth and leave. The only way I could see to monetize that kind of traffic is to do lots of popups.

I don't use pop-ups, they are annoying, if I had any most of my visitors would leave.
98% of my visitors come from Iran and they visit, Facebook, Twitter, CCN and lots of porn sites.

lol that's the hardest traffic to monetize since most ad networks want US/UK/Australia or Europe traffic.
