Random Acts Of Kindness

My faith in humanity on the internet has been restored. Yesterday I had a complete stranger offer to do something for me out of the blue without me even asking. It was an extremely kind gesture and they didn't want anything in return.

Has anyone done anything like this for you or have you done something like this for someone else? Share your Random Acts of Kindness and help restore humanity on the internet.

I guess this should gave gone in the chatter box forum. My bad.

With a fanastic team in place, we have been offering free website hosting and webmaster support services for almost 10 years now.

Hopefully karma will thank us all.

That's really nice of them! That sort of thing doesn't happen often, but it's always nice when it does. One of the things I love about being part of Gigarank is helping people find a home for their websites, for free.

Moved thread to Chatter Box forum.

That's a great gift @"Yozora" No one I know has a website, but people have been seeing mine and they're asking me to build ones for them, so I might have the pleasure of referring people here as well.

I was asking for help to reposition and resize the logo in my forum and the first response I got was from a guy saying he makes themes and can make my forum look just like my website. For free. And he did it in less then an hour! My head is still having a hard time wrapping itself around that one. So today I am in the Pay it Forward mode and will jump at the chance to help anyone that needs it if I can.

That is or was what the internet was about. Many moons ago, I was part of a team and this is what they were about, helping other. Just over a decade ago, things changed and the younger people came along and thought they should be paid for their work. I think so started that because they didn't want to help. People then started paying for things that were free.

I agree @"strokerace". And in today's economy not too many people can afford to do anything for free, but then again most of us can't afford to pay for much of anything either. It's quite a pickle we've gotten ourselves into. That's a nother whole can of worms though.

Well said Synergy. You do have a way with words. :p

I picked up on this pay for everything thing as well. I don't mind when it is professional. But when it's someone who is still learning the basics and not quite getting it yet, and there are hundreds of those, it wastes people's time to work through all of those links.

DJB is correct however. Plenty of FREE community work here. And not only by the staff. We have a very helpful community as well. Which is the beauty of it all. Like Karma attracting Karma.

Thanks Genesis. I'd really like to be one of those helpful people myself, but I'm all self taught and my skill level is basic (which is why I use premade scripts that I can tweak a little to suit my needs.) I'm more of a verbal cheerleader type (it's that 'way with words' thing LOL) and there's really not much need for that on this forum. No worries though, I have plenty of opportunity to do that on my website. :)

LOL, I am self taught. I help out here as much as I can. That in a way is an act of kindness.

Indeed you do. I was one of the recipients of your help recently... after banging my head against the wall for hours and you had it fixed in 15 minutes. Go figure!! :p

I use to offer to take homeless people to eat in a restaurant. For those that I gained a little trust in, I offered to let them use my shower at home. And, still others, I have offered a couch to sleep on for a night or two.

In Mexico, I made a lot of homeless friends like that. I invited one person to eat, and he had a whole crowd of other homeless people who automatically accepted me as their friend and never asked me for anything. They showed me around Guadalajara and never asked for a dime (or peso). I had my own personal tour guides to take me to various plazas and also to the mall. Of course, while they were with me I offered to buy them something to eat.

All I can say is God Bless you. Otherwise I will write a book and this isn't the forum for that. LOL Thank you from the center of my soul though. This touches me deeply.
