The FCC has approved the design and production of the next generation of Raspberry Pis the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. The FCC ID documents including photos, test reports and other information can be found here.

A photo of the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B:

(At the top you can see "Raspberry Pi 3 Model B V1.2")

The device look like a Raspberry Pi 2 but there are visible changes like the branding and the LEDs have been moved and some other things.

The new features so far: onboard 2.4 GHz WiFi (802.11b, g & n) and Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy (BTLE). More is currently not available.

Update: Full specifications are public now in a magazine. The new Raspberry Pi will cost around 26.38 Pounds.

Any clue on which architecture we talking about? Intel or ARM?

It is a Broadcom BCM2837 ARM CPU with four cores clocked at 1.2 GHz. On some sites I have read that it might be a ARMv8 CPU because of 64 bit support. Also apparently the new Magi Pi issue should have more information about the Raspberry Pi 3. The catalog picture from my first post is from another magazine.

Which edition of the magpi is this from? I mean I could not find on the edition 42.

Only 1.2ghz? Most cell phones are way past that. I am wondering why they have not put a real ARM chip in it yet. From the sounds of it, they are still 8 years behind the times with the chip set. And in comparison, not much better the the Pi 2.

That is exactly what I am wondering as well. I mean even smartphones are boasting of 2GHz processors and here we are stuck near 1.2GHz.

When the raspberry came out, it was just a small piece of hardware that you could carry around in your pocket. It was geared more towards a hacker. Now, some are buying there and turning them into media boxes. I was about to buy a Pi2 until I saw the specs on it. Even an Android box has a 2.4ghz arm chip.
I have a few laptops that are 8-9 years old and they have a 1.8 ghz dual core CPU in them.

Raspberry does have a good concept, but they lack vision. If they were to put a better chip in it, more people would buy them.

Well that is right however close competitors including those offered by intel have better specifications than the Pi for a similar price. Nevertheless I feel it is a moderately good upgrade.

I am not sure about your prices. I think it may be more about the software structure then price. I have bought an ARM chip in awhile so don't know about the pricing.

No, the price is not bad at all for what you get. I have seen the Pi 2 going used for $40 canadian with a keyboard.

Now with that in mind. What would make this a really great toy would be to have a portable monitor. Something small, light weight. Would be great if it was flexible even. I know you can get silicone flexible keyboards. Its own power source even so you don't need to find a plug for it.Then it would make a great kit to through in a backpack. It would make a great little tool kit.

Yeah that would be cool to have all the kit provided for you. it would also be good to have a solar panel with it so for countries like Africa where it can be hard to get electricity.

I really liked it. 35$ for a quad core x64 chip, with wifi and bluetooth, that is fantastic.
I am also following up on C.H.I.P, they make similar stuff so make sure you check that out too!!

I ordered one of these last week, quite excited to get it, it seems so much of an improvement from my B+
Anyone have any amazing projects they recommend I do?

The added WiFi is really great. The WiFi is often required to make movable project with Pi2.

Earlier I have to use USB-WiFi dongle to connect to WiFi. The onboard WiFi solves this problem.

BTW, I made media server with Pi2
