It looks like the DDOS`ers have found a secret weapon. Just imagine what 400 Gbps could do to a network! Apparently it`s a flaw in the Network Time Protocol (NTP). That`s the network that sync`s computers times.

A massive distributed-denial-of-service attack Monday reached more than 400 Gbps at its peak, about 33 percent greater than last year's Spamhaus attack, the previous DDoS record-holder.

Network Time Protocol is a networking protocol for clock synchronization between computer systems over packet-switched, variable-latency data networks. In operation since before 1985, NTP is one of the oldest Internet protocols in use.

Totally freaks me out! A Lethal Weapon, and one may not even see it coming when it is too late.
