SEO and traffic

SEO isn't getting more traffic on your website, its optimalization of your website for spiders like Google and building backlinks in a safe way.

Well I'd say that if you're optimizing your Website, then as a result there would be more traffic. Provided of course the content of the Website is solid and appeals. If the content is not good, the traffic will taper off eventually, regardless of SEO efforts. You can fool people for a while, but eventually content, reliability and consistency will prove King.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) Increases your rank in search engines now give you any kind of traffic. When anyone search's any keyword related to your site it will automatically show your website at top

In this day and age, you need to give away something of high quality or perceived quality to get visitors to return back to your site.

High quality I agree with Peace. Perceived quality can only con people that far. Eventually it will give the site a bad rating.

Well there's a lot of bloggers like John Chow (anyone remember him?) who blogged about making money and they offer content for free and "tips" which I guess people see as quality. But, I found his content to be nothing more than a series of promotional ads to content that he had a vested interest in (read: he makes a commission off of every thing he was posting about).

Your site will not be liked if your content is not worthy and your seo efforts will be useless. So concentrate on content.

The reason we do search engine optimization is to get traffic from search engine. Otherwise we wouldn't have to bother about it. Years ago it was the only way we had to get quality traffic but with this social revolution it no longer matters. You can receive same even more traffic from social media sites without doing any SEO at all.

SEO does nothing. Its a ploy. The amount of visitors is how you increase your rank.

It's probably the equivalent of politics. You've got to study search engine movements and what makes Google King tick. We have experts who are keeping their finger on the pulse for that. Knowledge is power, and knowledge of how Google manages its search engine rankings can make a difference to traffic to a site. Particularly on the side of what not to do that may lead to a Website being penalized in the search engine rankings.

No, not true. Ranking has nothing to do with Google. Rankings are based by Alexa(think thats the name of the ranking site) Google is just a tool for people to abuse and make money off of people who want to make quick traffic.

In other words, if your site has nothing to offer to anyone, it will not get traffic. I have shown a site that has a ranking of 1,000,000 and its been dead for 11 years. Well before SEO came out or became popular. So that blows all that SEO crap right out the window. You want to rank, then have content about hacking or Porn. Anything else and your are just another website on the web of billions.

All you need to do is build a website, submit it to a search engine. If you have something someone wants, your traffic will grow. If you don't, no traffic.

When doing SEO I don't think we should only focus on getting as many visitors as possible. If you get tons of visitors but no one is interested in the topic of your site then what's the use? They won't buy, comment, or do whatever it is that you want people do on your site. It's much better if you get visitors that are actually interested in your site even if that means fewer visits.

What about SEO plug-ins for wordpress sites?

Which plugins are most beneficial, or problematic?

What about SEO to social media sites such as Facebook, instagram?

"The amount of visitors is how you increase your rank." What do you mean? The more visitors to your website, the better your rank?

So if I send tonnes of fake traffic to my website, my ranking will increase?

Yes and no. The traffic has to be real. It tracks IP's and how often they visit your site. It also tracks where it comes from. So faking traffic to your site is hard to do as Google will know the difference.

That's easy. If what you said is true, game over, Google.

What, for argumentative sake, one created a community of Websites from different IPs with proxies with genuine content, and one sent traffic from the one to the other from different IPs? Would Google be able to pick up on that?
