Have you used Softaculous? Did you know that Softaculous allows the install over 200 script in only a couple of clicks?

I love Softaculous and that's one reason I'm attracted to Gigalicous. I've used myBB software from Softaculous and it's effortless to set it up, as it does it all for you. It also helps with keeping up to date with software. And that couple of clicks is true. It works as fast as that. :good:

I'm a Softaculous fan myself. Really makes life easy to have it around. Thanks for offering it with the Website space, although I guess i still have to do a few posts before I can apply.

I'm a complete noob at this. This is going to be my first experience with a Website, so I'll probably need all the help I can get. What is Softaculous about?

Welcome Mailbox! Not to worry. There is so much help around for first time Website builders, and Softaculous is one of those. It is basically automated script that helps you download software for your Website. Like if you would like to create a blog for example, you could just look for Word Press software in Softaculous, click on it, and it basically helps you with the whole process of setting it up.

Here's a Softaculous tutorial for installing Word Press just to give you an idea of how it works:

I love Softaculous. Makes one's life so much easier. Whoever invented it hopefully got mega rich as a consequence. One of the coolest inventions around.

I haven't used Softaculous before, find it quite easy to get the software from their home base, but think I'll try it out this time round. May be interesting to see how it works.

Just install your own scripts. I find softaculous a little risky as it uses the default database settings.

Sander K - doesn't it automatically create a database for you using random settings?

I didn't used to use it before (because they were unreliable and sometimes the installs would get borked), but now it's working great and it's a real time saver. Plus it's probably easier for newbies to the web development world.

I remember when Softaculous first came out and we at Stonerocket was one of the very first free hosting providers to use it. Everyone was saying it will never take off.

Just look where it is these few short years later. It's more popular than Fantastico and Installatron. (Linux systems)

I did some research last week and Fantastico has become completely thumbs down particularly with downloading WP from a safety point of view.

I only use it to install wordpress, and I pretty much wrote a script to do that for me (downloads the latest version and installs it) - only missing part is the mysql database creation.
