Trying to buy my old domain...

Well I was going to go ahead and buy back my obliviondesignz.com domain and through some searching have found out that the registar is now hugedomains.com and they want $1,650.00 for the domain. Does anybody know how this may have happened, or how long the shelf life might be so that I can get it back at a decent price?

Chances are your probably going to have to wait until December when they let it drop.

Expires On December 08, 2014

It sucks when that happens, it`s happened to me in the past. My advice renew domains a couple of months before they expire.

Thank You for the quick reply and information. I will now be renewing my domains from now on lol. Nice to know I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Do they always raise the price so much, when you do nott renew it? Over a thousand bucks for a domain is an enourmous amount. I am not yet an experienced web designer and I have relied on free domains so far and thus such things did not happen to me in the past, luckily.

Sometimes some domain registrars will buy-up UN-renewed domains that have a potential for a BIG name, like new product name or service, that the name itself is worth more than the domain itself so they buy the domain and jack up the price for the name. At least from what I have read.

I guess that is essentially how dot.tk is doing it with their domains. However, they get us to do the jacking up of the value for them, if we don't read the fine print properly.
