WEBUZO Control Panel for VPS (Premium Version)

OK, so I am definitely a Windows person. I have mastered some basic Linux commands, particularly the ones that have to do with a VPS, but I still need my control panel. My search for a free control panel was quite frustrating as most of the popular free control panels including the free version of WEBUZO came with at least a few bugs and inconsistencies. However once I tried the premium version of WEBUZO I found a control panel I could live with. At 25 USD it is affordable and well worth the investment for its cpanel feel and 316 Softaculous scripts. WordPress appeared right on top of the very long list of script categories.

Looks as though the backups are limited to the script installations, but since I'm probably going to use the scripts only for creating sites, that works for me. The backups are very fast, and easy to download to the hard disk of my computer.

There are three tools in the Control Panel including an online Web FTP interface, the latter that had me very intrigued. The File Manager is as good as if not better than the cPanel one. One can also use external FTP clients like FileZilla of course. I've tried all of them.

That said I still need to give WEBUZO a thorough workout as just found the phpAdmin Manager doesn't work. I'll have to go back into my Linux mode to install it properly. May be a project soon.

Only negative is WEBUZO is a single-user control panel. So for those who want to create user accounts with a free control panel, they would need to look at alternatives like Vesta Panel, Kloxo MR, ZPanel, Sentora, or WEBMIN. If you would like to learn more about my experiences with the latter you can check out my blog.

Webuzo ? My favorite control panel on a VPS or dedicated server. Fast and easy to us. But i never use premium/paid version because the free one can meet my needs.

Un4 will be proud of you. Linux is obviously better and safer. I was able to manage a VPS and set up Websites with Linux, but missed the user friendliness of a control panel too much. :p

control panel only make easy to manage our vps.
but if we only use to host our php script, i think we didn't need control panel that also eat our server resource.
this my reason why i not install control panel in my vps

I only use a control panel for creating a backup. Command line all the way.
Good for you! :good:

OK, so thought I was going to spend hours to solve the WEBUZO phpmyadmin problem, and I'm disappointed. My solution just came so very easy.

The problem is that when one clicks on phpmyadmin in WEBUZO it comes up with a login screen. This is of course different from our cPanel experience where it allows one to get into phpmyadmin without needing to log in. So what users do at WEBUZO is to input their WEBUZO user name and password. And when they do that, this error message comes up:
Notice in ./libraries/Header.class.php#227
Undefined index: collation_connection

Backtrace

./libraries/Header.class.php#257: PMA_Header->getJsParams()
./libraries/Header.class.php#208: PMA_Header->getJsParamsCode()
./libraries/Header.class.php#136: PMA_Header->_addDefaultScripts()
./libraries/Response.class.php#102: PMA_Header->__construct()
./libraries/Response.class.php#131: PMA_Response->__construct()
./libraries/plugins/auth/AuthenticationCookie.class.php#67: PMA_Response::getInstance()
./libraries/plugins/auth/AuthenticationCookie.class.php#710: AuthenticationCookie->auth()
./libraries/DatabaseInterface.class.php#2446: AuthenticationCookie->authFails()
./libraries/common.inc.php#988: PMA_DatabaseInterface->connect(
string ********,
string ********,
boolean false,
)
./index.php#12: require_once(./libraries/common.inc.php)
I then thought I was quite clever by checking up the WEBUZO discussion forum. Almost certain that I would find a step by step solution. So one of the solutions offered was to find the php.ini file to edit out all of the errors! I did manage to find the file with my Puttey SSL client, but my little voice told me that would not be a good answer for the problem. The error must be there for a good reason.

Next solution that got offered by a few WEBUZO users was to uninstall mySQL server from shell and reinstall it in WEBUZO Apps. I thought that was a rather radical thing to do, particularly since my Website was working pretty OK, and I didn't want to fiddle with its mysql database just to be able to get into phpmyadmin.

Then finally someone in Stackoverflow (boy is this place good for troubleshooting issues!) pointed me in the right direction. It came up with that WEBUZO hard coded a password for phpmyadmin. The password can be found at var/webuzo/my.conf. And I found it. Using my root command line. Problem solved!

OK, now I have more respect for the WEBUZO FAQs. It had been there all along:

Vesta Panel has a great reputation. Difference is WEBUZO doesn't have a reseller ability. You can create limitless Websites in WEBUZO, but it is not like WHM where you can create individual accounts for other people where they share all of the resources. If you like Vesta and it is working for you, I'd stay with Vesta. Feedback with regard to security is really good for Vesta as well. The negatives for me had been lack of documentation to solve issues. Support is 60 USD for 6 months.

Thanks Genesis. Im beginner on vps environment. I was get helped from my friend to install it. As long as I have ftp account so I can uploading my script files itself via ftp. For webstats to checking my visitor, I usually using 3d party software likes eg. clicky.com, woopra or histats.

Thank you for this recommendation. I'll definitely check this out. I'm thinking of getting a VPS, however need to swot up on Linux first. I've always wanted to do that any way.

Give us a shout when you are ready. Staff are currently discussing ways to make it easier for our existing members to get a free VPS.

I'm in the category of having had to learn Linux commands to set up my VPS. I probably need to refresh, but have copied a number of tutorials for setting up a VPS and installing control panels. There is plenty of literature available online to do that. Must say however that I still prefer my shared hosting.

No, it can't. That is a huge strike against it of course.It's intended more for someone who has a personal VPS and wants to use it for a large number of Websites.

Yes, indeed. You can install Sentora or ISPconfig if you want to have reseller capability. I am using Sentora at this moment but my customers still prefer Cpanel

free hosting at one-dollar-hosting.com

I hear ya, once a user gets used to cPanel pretty much no going back.

Hit me up on PM.

Hi,

I found ISP config the best from free panel. It has good support (for free) and functional. Also recently it released billing system (something like WHMCS), but it's not free =(.

So for cheep hosting it is great solution.
